After Tae Kwon Do, I went to the stadium parking lot and practice controlling the car in low-traction situations. It was fun. Carl said he'd come along next time.
It's stuff like
this that makes me glad I stayed out of the greek system.
In other news, I've been driving quite a bit running errands and such. I wouldn't say that I now can't live without a car as most of these errands have been because of the car. I'll give a more detailed review of the car and the dealership after Friday (when I will have the rest of the work done on the car).
I planned on getting chores done today. But then I went to church this morning. The message was about the beauty and importance of the Sabbath not only for spiritual needs but as a day of rest. So, I got nothing done today.
I now have a new car. It's a 2004 Subaru WRX sedan. Over the course of the day I became very familiar with how it handles, although there are still a couple of things that I need to get used to.
We've started practicing on the wrestling mats at Tae Kwon Do, and tonight we did self defense. I'm so very sore right now from it, and I didn't even get thrown...
Sometimes Microsoft looks like a big
cry baby.
I've gotten very annoyed with AIM. Now there are ads with sound. This in itself wouldn't seem so bad except for the fact that, hearing sudden talking noises when you should be alone in a room with no chance of being able to hear anyone except your roommate, yet hearing someone else is not comforting. Can someone help me get dead aim or something please?
Other news, I haven't been posting much because I've been playing so much Disgaea. I have found it to be the most addicting game I have played in a long time. Now, addicting isn't much in itself, maybe not even a good thing. But it is good, and worth playing. Unless you are just wanting to sample it, I don't recommend renting it, it takes too long to finish (I'm still working on it).
Well crud. I ran into a bug in Beyond Good and Evil that made the game unfinishable (at least my copy of the PS2 version). I consulted online FAQs (Xbox and PC versions only, no PS2) and was unable to perform the action that was required because the function was disabled. So anyways, don't buy the game.
After selling back my copy to EB (they were nice and let me sell it back for more than usual; they couldn't accept the return because it was beyond the power of the people on shift at the time and I just wanted it finished with), I purchased a copy of
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. So far I have been quite entertained (4 hours into the game).
I've been playing Beyond Good and Evil, and what I see is a game that has good concept and design but needed more time to be play tested. I bet the developers either didn't ask for or weren't permitted more time on the game.
On another note, I haven't found anything as amusing as Jamaican rhinoceros'. I've tried finding screen shots of that, but can't. Guess you'll just have to either buy the game ($20 or $25, not exactly sure which), borrow it from me when I finish, or rent it.
I started playing Spyro today. I think nothing tells the story of how I felt about the game better than the fact I sold it back to EBgames less than 3 hours after breaking the seal to open the game.
While there, I picked up Prince of Persia (GCN),
Beyond Good and Evil (PS2), Splinter Cell (GCN; free with purchase of Prince of Persia, very reassuring), and Super Mario Bros 3 (GBA; finally I've found it!).
My overall review of Wind Waker is summed up in this: The game makes buying a GCN without any other games worthwhile.
Last night I finished Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (GCN). Today I finished Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link (NES). After finishing it, the game lets one continue playing with the spells learned and levels earned, but without the items. I managed to fight my way all the way to the 6th palace without running out of lives. The first two bosses were dead in two strikes (the second wasn't even fully developed as you have to knock his head off twice before his real head is exposed).
Dinner was especially good today. Jewel had rib-eyes on sale, so I bought a pack (two).
This weekend has been fairly productive. Yesterday, I wrote the long-awaited battle report on a samurai warfare battle (The Assassination Attempt on Takao Osawa). You can read about it
here.
And today, I sent off my resume to about 6 or 8 companies in the Chicago area. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.
Well, I've made progress in all of the things I needed to work on. I've talked to professors, past employers, and NU career services. Now I need to find someone who will actually give me information of use...
Last night I was painting the new buildings I made over break for the samurai warfare. They look nice, especially next to Carl's new trees.
I've been in San Diego for
way too long. I can't wait to get back to my apartment, to my sound system, to my friends, to the weather... ok not the weather. But the other stuff.
