So my lack of control at stores has been demonstrated twice in 24 hours.

Yesterday I stopped off at the grocery store on the way home. I was going to pick up breakfast hotpockets and laundry detergent. While I was there I checked and saw that the granola bars I eat at work were on sale for 3 for $5 (normally $4, bought 18). I stopped by the meat section and saw lots of different managers specials and various good cuts for cheap. Just before checking out, I went to get beer and found Bass 12-packs were on sale at a good price (so I got 2). After all the items were scanned, I owed $171 (saving $75).

Today I went to Best Buy to get basic Norton Anti-virus and Soul Calibur III. I ended up grabbing Norton Internet Security (includes anti-spyware) and picked up Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood. At the check out, the new hire forgot to scan Soul Calibur III. I wouldn't have noticed had the total been off by $50. Struggling internally, I spoke up. I'm not sure, but I might have come off as a jerk about it. Atleast I was an honest jerk.

Lately we've been having rather dreary weather here in San Diego. It's been overcast and the occasional sprinkle or down pour. Maybe it's because I'm spending the entire day in an office, but it feels so depressing to look out from my office and see the weather to be dark and drizzle.

I had a rank test for Aikido last Saturday. I was successful and now posses the rank of fifth kyu (aka the lowest rank). Gotta start somewhere. Sunday I went on a bike ride to find a route to ride to work along. I was not successful as the round trip ride took three hours.

Today there was some off-beat news I saw. One was from China, where apparently they are institutionalizing internet addicts. After the story about the Korean man who died after playing computer games for days straight, the idea that another Asian country is finding there to be an addition requiring action is curious. When will they start having 12-step programs for Evercrack addicts here in the US? I hear Ben Stein's son is one.

Even more disturbing is this commercial being run in Belgium depicting the Smurfs being carpet bombed. I don't know if it is related, but one of the sales guy drew a picture on his white board of Papa Smurf firing a machine gun. Can't we just go back to making 'shroom jokes?

"I'm, uh, I got words... I'm sayin' this is an a'spicious day."

Well, yesterday. Anyway, Serenity came out and I went and saw it; doing my duty as a Browncoat. I even managed to get my parents to come with me.

I won't go into too much detail about anything in particular about the movie or the audience, but I found the father and very young son right behind me quite annoying (showing up late and putting one's feet right next to my head is a big no-no).
