Success! The GRE is done with, and I will not have to take it again. I got an 800 on my math section (and did well on the other sections, atleast for an engineer). Such a good moment once the screen came up and told me my score.
Not bad for someone who couldn't find the test center (they had another address on their website, and had recently closed a test site).
I took a practice GRE today, and scored a 500 on the verbal (60th percentile), 790 on math (94th percentile), and probably would have gotten a 4-5 on the written section (based on the criteria). Even if I only get a 500 on verbal, that is fine by me. I mean, seriously: I took no English classes in college. I should be getting lower scores than people who did a humanities major and are looking at grad school (even if they weren't high achievers).
The test is Monday morning. I told my boss I would be coming in late. When we were talking later, he said he doesn't expect me to be productive Monday. Guess I can't do worse than that.
I've discovered possibly the best way to end a week: do 24 autox laps. Yes, my car did 24 laps today. The normal count at a championship is 3. My dad drove for 8 with me riding, and there are a couple of other rides I bummed with others. It was awesome. There are no pictures coming to the driving section though. You know... I was busy and all.
I've finally gotten around to building a section for car
photos. Please forgive some of the shortcuts I took (paging will be added soon), but now I can go and take more pictures and not worry about 2 hours of work to upload them.
For all you
Simpsons fans. Be sure to watch the video down the page a bit.
I've been studying a bit for the GRE lately (working through the Kaplan book I bought as well as the vocabulary), and I am finding that I can't focus on a section like the verbal for very long. Long words make my head hurt apparently. Well, that and figuring out the relationship between two words, then comparing it to several other pairs seems more complicated than writing a feature that dynamically generates entry forms and display pages based on data entered by the user.
